Karsan Dargawalla is heir to position of Saheb, leader of a unique sect of the Muslim faith that began with a traveling mystic by the name of Nur Fazal who did many favours for the king of the time and then built the temple of Pirbag with a small group of followers. Karsan is expected to inherit the position of spiritual follower of the sect from his father, a role he neither wants nor believes in. He views his father as a hypocrite playing the role of God in a secular world. And so, when the opportunity arises, he escapes to America and then Canada. But, can he escape his past? Karsan s brother, Mansoor, too throws off the teachings of his father to embrace militant Islam, a far cry from the moderate teachings of his father.
